an interesting thought: If any abused children or orphaned children were discovered in Hogwarts and they had nowhere to go... what if there was a clause in each of the houses that said that they would adopt them and the last name would change.. to Gryffindor, or Slytherin or whatever house the child belonged to.

Snape's Mind, An explanation for Occlumency - (Contributed by Padawan Jan)

Premise/Summary: Ever wondered how Harry was ble to see into Snape's mind when the man was supposed to be a good enough Occlumens to withstand Voldemort? His mind's in sheilded in a way to have many layers, the first containing memories from his childhood and such that Voldemort would have been expecting to see. The intimate, very much more shielded part of his mind would be where he kept information about The Order of the Phoenix. That was how in his 5th year, Harry was able to see some of Snape's memories with his sheilding spell.
